   Also, the first ten minutes of desperately trying to connect Super 8 to Stranger Things is just hilariously inept.

11. This is the movie I thought of immediately when I started watching Stranger Things. Super 8 nailed that era great in one movie. ST certainly continued memorializing its nostalgic era. I love Superman 8 and ST. There’s just something about a time before cell phones.

15. Super 8 sucked, it had a good premise but lacked direction as typical of anything by JJ Abrahms, he doesnt know where to take a story. This movie (and everything else by Abrahms) reminds me of Dante's Explorers where the setup is good, the first half is good and by the second half you have no friggin idea where you are and how you got there. Having a rehashed alien from Cloverfield also didn't help…

16. I don't think I agree with your assessment of how the 80s was portrayed in Stanger Things. I was a kid in the 80s, so it felt pretty organic to me. That show and Super 8 are both awesome. I'm also baffled why Super 8 has been pretty much forgotten. With that movie Hidden, I wish when you guys talked about movies, you would do it in a way that doesn't give the whole thing away like that. It's one thing if it's something well known, but if it's something not a lot of people have seen, it's not beneficial to spoil it all when recommending it to us. I was interested in checking it out, but now I know what happens, so why should I bother?

18. IMO I enjoyed super 8 more than stranger things for me it utilized nostalgia to benefit the story to the fullest vs stranger thing that felt more tacked on and I will never get the inclusion or importance of the characters singing never ending story out of nowhere

20. I remember going to the theater to see SUPER 8 on its release week. I was blown away! 👀 been a fan since. Mad 😠 that they never made a sequel. 😢

    Alot of people don't know about SUPER 8.

21. It's funny to watch The Night Agent where Gabriel Basso plays a rock solid action hero and then go back and watch Super 8 and realise he's the lanky tall kid in the hat.

22. As an 80s kid, the first season of Stranger Things held up very well, it was pretty accurate. But after that, it just felt like it was a young persons vision of what they thought the 80s was like, it just felt too fake, polished and superficial. Hell, somehow everyone just quit smoking after season 2, which was definitely not something that happened in the 80s.

26. JJ Abrams actually lived through the 80s whereas the Duffers were too young, barely toddlers. So that's why the 80's feel more authentic in one than in the other.
