  1. I have this very funny way of coming up with ideas; I'm the kind of person who has a lot of dreams, and each dream has a different plot, but they're all interconnected. What I do when I wake up is write down the few things I still remember and save them in a notebook, which is good because I can easily be creative and create a story from those little dreams. 6:54

And i had this competition when i was in school, that we had to write a short story, i was super excited abt it and luckily i got 2nd place, that's when i found my passion in writting and i want to continue that short story and turn it into a book.

Its so good to see someone's evolution , seeing them acheive their goals, it makes me really happy and we all lucky to get this video which helps us to continue and improve, so thank you.🤍

  2. I’m working on my own fantasy novel. I just wanted to ask, is it okay to write it in a script format? I find that style easier and more natural for me. Hope someone replies.

  3. Jed, you're either an angel or a saint – your free content is so incredible, and you are a masterful teacher. Really proving the saying 'those that can't do, teach' completely wrong (you do and teach)! This video (among many others of yours that I've watched) helped me realize that I wasn't putting in the foundational work necessary to get a cohesive and clear story off the ground. I am attempting to write my first novel, and your videos have been just the tools I needed to get going in earnest on a project that I think could have the legs to make it. Thank you for your generosity!

  4. As someone near the editing stages of their first big project this guide has been super thorough and well-explained. Excellent resource and brilliantly produced!

  5. You mentioned a very good reason for my writing block. I'm looking for a job rn and I'm running out of money 🥲
I'm constantly in my thoughts about it and it doesn't give any space for thinking about my book.
But you know, sometimes when I come back to my characters and story, it feels like a safe heaven and lets me cool thoughts down. So if you're in some situation where you don't affect the process, take your time and do something that you are really passionate about. It helps 😊

  6. I honestly have a genuine question to which I’m fearful of the answer.

I have finished my first draft of my very first book. I was definitely a driven writer, just randomly started and have now finished it. This was all before looking into tips and your videos. But now, after watching this whole video and other videos, I’m debating whether or not to just either scrap the first draft and start fresh with all these new tips and ideas, or to still try and work with my first draft? I love the characters and world, but am nervous to have to rewrite the whole thing.

  7. Amaaazing video!
I'm in the planning phase of my book and struggled to give my characters a good motive.

Then you explained how to come up with a theme. When I explored my theme, all characters suddenly made so much more sense.

Also the 9 point structure helped me to fill in my plot and get connect all the loose pieces of plot ideas that I had.

Still struggling with character arcs though.

    Thank you so much!

  8. I'm writing a fantasy novel being inspired from manhwas and yes the interstellar and all sci-fi with the twist of Indian mythology hope it works cuz I have proper vision to get my story to reach end

  9. I am 11 and have written a book according to me it is the best. I want you to read and rate it as if you are a writer yourself. This is the purest idea I have ever thought of. Better than anything

  10. I love writing fantasy! I have been working hard for years, workshopping and shaping a plotline covering thousands of years of a fantasy world, this video I what I didn't know I needed.

  11. I apologize for the essay.
I've been trying to write my book for the past 15 years. I've written small fanfics and horrible short stories, none that I ever wanted to publish. But this idea I've had in my head for a short series has been a nightmare. I want to get it down on paper, I've written it over and over again. I've added to it, I've taken away from it. I've even tried running it as a D&D campaign just to try and get idea from my players about how to approach it from a different point of view. Nothing has worked. I want nothing more than to get this done and edited and possibly published. I've been binge watching these videos to try and help me get things actually sorted and planned out… because outlines are horrible for me to set up

  12. I just wanted to say thank you, your videos helped get me writing again and I actually finished a novel (it sucks) but I finished which is amazing to me. So thank you Jed for posting these videos

  13. I'm so glad I found your videos. I've never had an interest in writing. Till half way thru January. Random thought. Couldn't stop thinking it. And now I'm at almost 30k words. I listen to your advice as I go.

  14. I was working on a skyrim fanficton with an alternate universe "what if" style story. It was literally me going "skyrim already has lore, so i can practice making characters and writing a plot" and it helped undoubtedly. I went from writing typical ~1000w shorts to writing a 7000w story. Now I am working on a science fiction story, which is entirely my own and not a fanfiction. It was quite intimidating to start but I've come far. Now I am stuck. Everything I write I hate, and end up scrapping. I keep trying though. I have new ideas every day. Not giving up

  15. Don't be me.

Do minimal planning, just have a basic skeleton of a story with a bunch of character sheets. Start, get 27k words in with constant back revisions, so probably 35k words written total. Then forgetting that wavemaker stores everything in chrome cache, delete your cookies and cache because of an issue you had with the amazon website.

  16. Saludos desde España, recomiendo el libro de girasoles para Alma memorias de una enfermera de Shanna Soul es brutal y una auténtica joya que encontré por casualidad en Amazon ❤

  17. You've been a huge help for me over these last 2 years and have taught me so much more about writing than any other person on the internet. Thank you for the passion and effort

  18. Honestly I wanna talk to other writers about my novel idea but I get worried about someone taking it or ripping it off. I’ve met people that have had that done to them and I really don’t want that to happen 😅
