5. Reading the comments and I cannot believe how obtuse people are. This is not a film about comets, it is a film about how modern society is reacting to an existential crisis, i.e. climate change.

18. This movie utterly terrified me. Not for the end-of-the-world stuff, which I'd say is pretty much a given at this stage (nuclear war, climate change, another pandemic with lunatics in charge), but for how accurately and mercilessly it describes our present moment and all the horrific directions we're headed in. Yes, it's funny as hell, but I simply couldn't laugh.

23. The prayer at the end is surprising, considering that prayer and religion so often get mocked by the progressives or Left. It was a decent prayer, too.

    I think that in the attacks on the scientists, somebody would have renamed the comet to minimize Kate Dibiasky's influence.

    Humanity faces many existential threats. The threat chosen for this movie is one that is not caused by humans. Nothing humans could do likely would make it worse. Other threats to life's existence could be caused by humans. The fact that the end of the world is not directly our fault means that we don't get an act in which the people warning about the impending disaster actually are making it worse because of their own vanity. I don't believe that global climate change is an existential threat, but if I did, I might say something about celebrities who jet around the world while warning about climate change.

26. Apophis is coming on Friday 13th April of 2029!! This movie is a reflection of what is going to happen when it gets closer and closer and then hits California!!!

27. What a f***king great movie. It resembles the world we live in today: Money over lives, entertainment over truth, remaining in power at ANY cost, believing in what suits you most … this is happening right now in the US, just on another, more subtile level.
